Winter Wonderland

The other week a few of my lovely friends and I headed off to Winter Wonderland. Aka a big Christmas festival full of good food, carnival rides, ice skating, drinking, and adorable gifts. I was in heaven. I have always had a bit off an obsession with going ice skating around Christmas time and finally my dreams came true. Even though it took me quite a few laps to get into the groove of things, I had a wonderful time holding hands with my friends and listening to Britney Spears Christmas tunes. We finished off the night with some mulled wine and sugary treats. London, you sure know how to celebrate Christmas.

Snowy Stockholm

I have had an itch to visit Sweden for quite some time now. I was always quite fond of my Grandpa as a little girl and while growing up he used to always tell me about our Swedish heritage and share all of the traditions that he grew up with. I have had such a distinct picture painted in my imagination of what this wonderful place looked like over the years, that I couldn't bare not to visit it while I was in Europe. Stockholm was such a dream, snowy and cold, but a down right beauty. My friend Ali and I spent most of our time hanging out in Old Town. We went to so many adorable cafes and sipped on delicious chai lattes and filled up on pastries throughout the day. We also had to stop and check out their Christmas market, how could I pass that up? Stockholm, as a city, was so decked out in Christmas spirit. I was overwhelmed with joy to see Christmas lights filling the streets, holiday window displays in every shop, gingerbread cookies and mulled wine in the cafes, and real Christmas trees covered in snow. On our last night we took a ferry out to Waxholm and enjoyed a traditional Swedish dinner in the quiet little town. One of my favorite things about Sweden is how happy and helpful the people are; we were treated with nothing but kindness and  genuine curiosity the whole trip. Our last day in Stockholm was spent shopping and searching for gifts for our friends and family back home. It was such a short, but sweet trip and I couldn't have asked for a better way to end my time abroad.
